As if we needed more reasons to love and respect Daniel Radcliffe.

The “Harry Potter” actor successfully carried a history-making franchise on his shoulders for more than a decade, charmed audiences on the Great White Way with his critically acclaimed performance in “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” and is making great post-”Potter” career choices. Not only is he generally talented and charming, but he has also put his star power behind the Trevor Project, which is a nonprofit organization that offers support to sexual minority youth, particularly those experiencing emotional difficulty dealing with their sexuality who need someone to talk to. The Trevor Project also endeavors to foster safe and inclusive environments in homes and schools.

Radcliffe’s latest work with the organization is a 30-second PSA that aired Tuesday night during “Glee” and MTV News now has exclusively online. In the spot, Radcliffe addresses the very important issue of supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.

“I’m Daniel Radcliffe, and I believe that reaching out for help is the bravest thing a person can do,” Radcliffe says in the PSA. “If you are struggling and need support, call the Trevor Lifeline at 1-866-488-7386. It’s free and confidential, and trained counselors are there to listen 24/7 without judgment.”

The 22-year-old said in a statement that his work with the Trevor Project has taught him the importance of being a straight ally and offering his support. “When we let someone know that we accept them for who they are and that we are safe to talk to, we can help save lives,” he said. “It’s as simple as that.”

Radcliffe has been involved with the Trevor Project since 2009, appearing in public service announcements for the group’s prevention hot line and speaking out in support of LGBT youth. Radcliffe has called his work with the Trevor Project “one of the most important, if not the most important, thing that I’m associated with.”

In the lead-up to the release of the new comedy “Wanderlust,” much has been made of Jennifer Aniston’s purported nude scene in the film. But when MTV New’s Josh Horowitz sat down with Aniston and co-star Paul Rudd for our MTV First on Wednesday, the actress waved off the scene.

“Yeah, big deal!” Aniston said, insisting that most of the talk around the scene was just sensational. “Isn’t that a good, fun headline? That’s what happens.”

“Wanderlust” — fans can preview an exclusive clip when we launch our “First” special Wednesday at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com — takes place at a commune, where two down-on-their-luck New Yorkers, played by Aniston and Rudd, seek refuge. And when you consider that “Wet, Hot American Summer” helmer David Wain was behind the camera, nudity may seem tame. For Aniston, the scene was just another part of the job.

“At that point, we had been shooting the movie for two months, two-and-a-half months, and the amount of things that we were asked to do that we were just like ‘All right,’” Aniston said. “At that point, that was like putting on my shoes.”

The duo share the experience of onscreen skin, a fact Aniston felt compelled to share. “You’ve shown your butt,” she said to Rudd.

“Many times,” he replied.

“And onscreen as well,” Aniston joked. “In the makeup chair, he always never had clothes on.”

“I had to get dressed for the shots,” Rudd replied. “But when we weren’t shooting, I was hanging brain, as it were.”

For Aniston, nudity has to matter for where the character is heading in the story, and a crazy, purposeless nude scene would never work. “I think it depends on what the movie is. It felt like it would be gratuitous to do that in a movie like this and it would be more distracting from the movie and what was happening to the character,” she explained. “It would all be about, ‘Oh, you’re naked, so it’s boobs onscreen,’ so it would totally lose the fun and the empowering moment [my character], Linda, was having in that scene.”

One of Aniston’s co-stars, however, does show a fair amount of skin, even if he’s wearing a prosthetic penis.

“Joe Lo Truglio, the first night he came out with his prosthetic penis, within five minutes we were all touching it,” Aniston revealed. “We were touching it, and we were examining it. It was just so interesting. It was just right there, underneath it. I think first night of shooting, I could resist, there was the beginning of many, many butt slaps.”

Catch Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston tomorrow on MTV at 7:56 p.m. ET, when they’ll debut an exclusive, never-before-seen clip from “Wanderlust.” Then head over to MTV.com for our 30-minute chat with Rudd and Aniston.

On Tuesday (February 21), some of the biggest names in the music business headed to London’s O2 Arena for the 2012 Brit Awards, where Adele, Rihanna and Bruno Mars were among the stars who took home prizes.

Grammy winner Adele added to her award collection by nabbing two Brits, including British Female Solo Artist and the night’s big prize, Mastercard British Album of the Year, for 21. And on Wednesday, the U.K. singer will celebrate the one-year anniversary of her chart-topping 21.

“It’s been an amazing year,” she told the room as she accepted the Female Solo Artist prize. She then joked to presenter Kylie Minogue, “I feel like a drag queen next to you,” before thanking her record label for “for letting me be the kind of artist I want to be.”

There were also live performances from Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and, of course, Adele, who sang “Rolling in the Deep” just a little over a week since her Grammy performance.

Meanwhile, just as One Direction seems poised for a U.S. takeover the U.K. boy band nabbed a British Single award for their track “What Makes You Beautiful,” which was released in the States last week.

Rihanna and Bruno Mars won International Female Solo Artist and International Male Solo Artist, respectively. “[Thanks to] all my fans who continue to support me no matter what,” said Rihanna, who made headlines on Tuesday (February 21) by adding Chris Brown to her “Birthday Cake” remix.

Coldplay took home the British Group prize for the third time. On the other end of the spectrum, Grammy winners the Foo Fighters beat out folks like Jay-Z and Kanye West (a.k.a. the Throne), Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5 to win International Group. Lana Del Rey won the International Breakthrough Act award, just weeks after she dropped her debut, Born to Die.

Other awards included Outstanding Contribution Award for Blur, a Critics Choice Award for Emeli Sande and British Male Solo Artist for singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, who also took British Breakthrough Act.

At this point in his career, almost 30 years after he started acting, George Clooney has become not only one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, but a regular competitor at each year’s Oscars. This year’s Academy Awards nominations, his sixth and seventh, for “The Descendants” and “The Ides of March” represent the diverse work Clooney is now known for and the many different roles he takes on.

Clooney’s journey to Sunday night’s 2012 Oscars took a familiar path through the festival circuit with releases in the second half of the year, one carefully engineered to spell awards success, but the two films that got him there and the work he did cover a wide spectrum in filmmaking.

“Ides of March” took shape late in 2010, when Clooney signed on to wear three hats for the film: actor, producer and director. His fourth directorial effort to date, the political drama follows a young junior campaign manager (Ryan Gosling) as he struggles with the moral dilemmas of supporting a presidential candidate, played by Clooney.

Based on Beau Willimon’s play “Farragut North,” the script for “Ides of March” earned Best Adapted Screenplay nominations for the original author, Clooney and his frequent collaborator Grant Heslov. Though Clooney’s well-known political affiliations and beliefs stood in the foreground, the man himself took more of a backseat, limiting his onscreen role to a few keys scenes.

During awards season, the film made a small mark, after debuting to only mildly positive reviews. It did, however, take a spot on the National Board of Review’s top 10 of the year and earned four Golden Globes nominations, including Best Picture (Drama) and Best Director.

In “The Descendants,” Clooney took a familiar spot as leading man, but the role of Matt King required him to be anything but his usual model of suave confidence. As a soon-to-be widow, Clooney fully adopted the dopey mantel of an Alexander Payne hero in the tradition of Paul Giamatti in “Sideways” and Matthew Broderick in “Election.”

But unlike his predecessors as a lead in one of Payne’s films, Clooney’s character remained almost entirely sympathetic throughout the film, thanks in large part to the believability of the acting. He effortlessly took on the role of an utterly clueless father with good intentions, helping make “Descendants” such a true and touching film.

In the week leading up to Oscar night, Clooney stands neck and neck with fellow nominee Jean Dujardin as the favorite. It would be Clooney’s second win for acting, his first coming in 2006 as supporting actor in Stephen Gaghan’s “Syriana.”

However Sunday’s ceremony might shake out for Clooney, he has proven himself a mainstay for the Academy Awards, and — whether he’s acting, directing, writing or producing — someone who will continue to appear on shortlists for years to come.

The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! Stick with us for everything you need to know leading up to the awards show, and on Sunday, February 26, tune into MTV.com at 5:30 p.m. ET for our three-hour red-carpet live stream and updates on the night’s big winners.

What does Demi Lovato have up her sleeve?

We’ll know in good time. But for now, the singer/actress tweeted out a photo teasing a super-secret special project she is working on with MTV. The photo features her wrists, emblazoned with her tattoos that read “Stay Strong.” The picture offers up a couple of hints: the date “3.6.2012″ and the hashtag #staystrong.

“Lovatics-I wanted to tell you FIRST about a special I worked on with @MTV,” she tweeted. “It premieres March 6th at 10pm!! #staystrong.”

Lovato first showed off the ink back in March 2011, just two months after she left an Illinois treatment center to deal with personal issues including an eating disorder and cutting.

“The journey that I went through and the support of my fans was so meaningful to me that I wanted to thank my fans in a way that I know can never be forgotten,” the singer said in 2011.

“It’s something that my fans were actually drawing on their wrists while I was still in treatment,” she explained about the significance of her tattoos. “Some people even got tattoos of it, so I wanted to show you guys that I will never forget the support that you guys gave me.”

Since returning to the spotlight, she has focused on her music career, including her 2011 album, Unbroken, which launched her empowering hit single “Skyscraper.” Her next single is “Give Your Heart a Break.”

Lovato has become a voice for young people struggling with personal issues. In December, she visited and spoke to patients at the Timberline Knolls Center, where she had received treatment.

“To be able to share my story and let them know that it gets easier … Life is beautiful … you are worthy of it,” Lovato said. “Please say a prayer for all of those struggling with eating disorders, self-harm, mood disorders and substance abuse.”

Tune in to MTV on Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. for Demi Lovato’s top-secret special!

It’s hard not to love Elizabeth Banks. She’s smart, funny, pretty, makes great choices with her roles in film and television and just seems like an all-around great person. And although we’ve been fans of Banks’ work for years, it’s her role as Effie Trinkett in “The Hunger Games” that has us almost bouncing off the walls with excitement.

When MTV News caught up with Banks recently, we asked what scenes she’s most looking forward to see on the big screen when the film opens March 23.

“I have not seen much of the arena, so I’m excited to see the actual Games. It’s very emotional. We really become very attached to the characters, even Cato and Thresh, kind of the bad guys of the book,” Banks said. “We really are attached to everybody’s journey, and so I’m really excited to see how that all plays out.”

Banks said that, for her part, the Reaping was the most challenging and fulfilling sequence to shoot.

“The Reaping is amazing. We get so see a heroine step forward and show herself for the first time and come to life, and it was a really remarkable scene to shoot. It was difficult to shoot under insane conditions, about 105 degrees the couple days we shot it. We had all these young kids there dropping like flies,” Banks recalled. “It was madness, and it’s also the only time we spend in District 12.”

Banks added that the best way to take the edge off the extreme temperatures and conditions during the filming of the Reaping was to lighten the mood between takes.

“I think whenever it’s difficult, one of my favorite ways to deal with it is to joke around. We take the work seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Woody [Harrelson] is a great partner in crime,” she said of her humorous co-star. “He tells really off-color jokes and is fantastically self-deprecating and fun to be around.”

Fun.’s “We Are Young” has become one of the year’s most-unlikely sensations, leaping all the way to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart — behind only Kelly Clarkson and Adele — thanks in no small part to massive digital sales, a plum feature on “Glee” and, of course, that iconic, chaotic music video.

So now, with a certified hit to their credit, Fun. are gearing up for the next phase of their climb: the release of their second studio album, Some Nights, out Tuesday (February 21). It’s a whirling, ambitious listen, the sound of a band busting boundaries and reaching for bigger and better things — “It’s been a long time coming, and we want it to take over the world,” frontman Nate Ruess said — so it’s fitting that it’s been preceded by “We Are Young,” a song that very much busts boundaries, and gets unapologetically big.

“That song, to us, is like bull’s-eye center of what we wanted to do with this album,” guitarist Jack Antonoff told MTV News. “It’s a brilliant song to have out as a single, because it’s saying all the things to people that we want to say. It’s showing how, artistically, [the album is] different, it’s showing all the influences brought by Jeff Bhasker, who produced the album, and all he brings from his hop-hop world, working with people like Kanye and Jay-Z. And it shows where we’ve moved with songwriting.

“And one of our favorite things about ‘We Are Young’ is that, if it’s the center of the album, every song is sprouting out of it in different directions,” he continued. “And if you like the song, then I think the album’s just going to be a rollercoaster ride, because it just flies in every direction in and out of that song.”

In that regard, “We Are Young” has also become Fun.’s de facto anthem — by their own admission, their first — the song that they feel speaks best for this band, at this moment, on the verge of very big things.

“It’s pretty rare, because any other projects that we’ve done, I don’t think any of us have ever had that song that was like, ‘This is our band,’ ” Antonoff said. “We’re proud to say, ‘Listen to this one song, and then come listen to the rest. Here it is.’ “

One of the major complaints about this year’s Academy Awards race is that most of the winners feel decided already. Sure, “The Artist” is going to win Best Picture. Viola Davis probably already has Best Actress locked up. But the competition for Best Original Screenplay doesn’t even feel like a competition at all. The Academy has already spoken, and they’re going with an Oscar favorite.

What’s really unfortunate here is not that the category is so predictable, but that the Academy didn’t venture more into independent film to find their nominees. “A Separation” stands out as one of the more refreshing nominees, but as the obligatory “indie” nominee, “Margin Call” could easily be swapped out for the likes of Jeff Nichols’ “Take Shelter” or Sean Durkin’s “Martha Marcy May Marlene.”

Of all the films nominated for original writing, here are our predictions for the category in 2012:

Who Will Win: Woody Allen for “Midnight in Paris.” After 40-plus years of making movies, Allen delivered a film that went on to become his most financially successful ever. An achievement by a writer/director of his caliber will rarely go unrewarded at the Oscars, and deservedly so. “Midnight in Paris” is perfectly all right with being ridiculous, even going as far as to not explain the main character’s time-traveling abilities. More importantly, the film was about something, the allure and emptiness of nostalgia, in a year that’s been obsessed with traveling back in time emotionally. Even if the plot became repetitive at times, even the most cynical viewers had to find some joy in watching the like of Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds speaking words written by Allen.

Who Should Win: Asghar Farhadi for “A Separation.” Anytime the Academy has an opportunity to do something utterly unexpected, that’s where my heart will lie. A win for the Iranian film would not only buck old Academy stereotypes, but reward a truly deserving film. “A Separation” follows a married couple as they decided whether to stay in Iran and care for an ailing parent or leave to better the life of their young daughter. Launching from that already provocative starting point, the film goes unexpected places while keeping the audience’s attention every step of the way.

It was only a matter of time. For the past few weeks the world has been at a stand still with rumors swirling of one time lovebirds Rihanna and Chris Brown working with each other again. Just in time for her 24th birthday C Breezy and Rihanna made their reunion official releasing the remix to Ri’s “Birthday Cake” track.

On the Internz/The-Dream produced record, Breezy adds his melodies to the song crooning about his fantasies to blow the candles out on Rihannas cake.

“Girl I wanna f–k you right now. Been a long time I been missing your body” Brown sings on the remix. “Lemme, lemme turn the lights down. When I, when I go down it’s a private party.”

During the 2012 Grammy Awards weekend word began to spread that Rihanna and Brown were spotted at the same event with some reports suggesting the two were seen holding hands. A day later “Cake” producers Da Internz hinted Rihanna was getting ready to release a “big” remix with a special guest that would “shock the world.”

“We got the Rihanna ‘Birthday Cake’ coming out in a week,” a bespectacled Kosine told MTV News on the red carpet of the Pepsi-sponsored ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Brunch, held over the Grammy weekend.

“It’s gonna be crazy,” his production partner, Tuo, said shaking his head.

“And the feature on there is gonna shock the world,” Kosine chimed.

Words never lie.

Three years after their infamous fallout at the Grammy Awards Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together again … at least musically. Clearly the start of a new beginning. Stay tuned.

We’ve already heard “Hunger Games” star Wes Bentley address the fan fervor surrounding his role as Seneca Crane — or, more specifically, the beard that was specially crafted for his character. Now it’s time to get into his thoughts on the impact of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy as a whole and what he thought about reading them for the first time knowing he might be bringing Crane to life on the big screen.

“I think they’re fantastic novels. She’s a great writer, very poetic at times, and I love that,” Bentley told MTV News. “What struck me first was that it was politically sophisticated, a level at which you don’t see in adult novels. I also found it very exciting, and I found the character of Katniss to be so intriguing and so inspiring and very clever. I love to see that in a book.”

Speaking to getting into the character of Seneca Crane, Bentley didn’t want to give away too much but did reveal that he felt that he had a lot to work with, thanks to director Gary Ross.

“Gary created a great version of the character from the script, and I had a lot of fun with it,” Bentley said. “We had a blast.”

The “American Beauty” actor also said he tried to maintain “tunnel vision” with regard to the constant online chatter and debates over the film’s casting, but his wife thwarted those efforts.

“I was sort of aware of that excitement about the book,” he said. “My wife was trying to tell me how people felt about me being cast, which seemed positive, but I didn’t want to hear much about it; I just wanted to focus on the work.”

Bentley said if he could play any other role in the film, it would be Katniss, because she is such a strong character. He also deftly avoided the Team Peeta or Team Gale question by emphasizing the fact that the story is about survival, not romance.

“I don’t even think it plays like that,” he said. “[Katniss] is a strong individual character who is having to do something much bigger. It’s about survival.”
